BANISH those post-Christmas blues! The new classic event season begins with a bang at the Carole Nash Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic.
The hugely popular season starter, held over the weekend of January 5-6 at Newark Showground, promises to be even bigger and better, with a world-class guest of honour and plenty of on-bike action.
As a brand-new feature to the show, Moto Gymkhana UK will be offering free sessions available for visitors to take part in on both Saturday and Sunday, provided that they bring their own riding gear and licence.
Matt Hull, editor of the show’s magazine sponsor Classic Bike Guide, said: “It’s the most exciting, safe sport you can do on a motorcycle that teaches you more about bike control than years of road riding.”
The sessions are 30 minutes long and can accommodate three riders each time, giving 48 people an opportunity to take part across the weekend. Participants can either book a slot in advance by emailing [email protected] or book when they arrive at the show.
Charismatic American legend Freddie Spencer will make his first appearance at the Newark showground in Nottinghamshire to share stories from his hugely successful race career. Interviewed on stage by local TT hero Steve Plater, there are sure to be bucketloads of banter, stories and photo opportunities for fans all weekend.
It’s not just about motorcycles either! The Winter Classic is the only event where classic scooters and motorcycles share equal billing and the Scooter World halls – packed with innovative and skilfully restored small wheel wonders – are not to be missed.
With trade and autojumble pitches now almost sold out, and the usual sparkling array of club stands and private entries all vying for the prizes on offer, a great weekend is promised on all accounts.
Newark showground is situated on Drove Lane, Winthorpe, Newark, Nottinghamshire NG24 2NY, and is just one mile from the A1 and easily accessible from all directions. Admission costs just £8 each day and parking is free.
